Following an article on the increase in vegetarian food options at airports, Quorn Foods Inc. offered their comments on the news.

On December 6, 2012, Quorn Foods Inc. commented on a Fox News article regarding the recent increase of healthy food options for vegetarians at U.S. airports.

According to the Fox News article, “Traveling by air and eating healthy rarely go hand in hand, but when it comes to airport food, the tides are turning say some doctors.” The article mentioned that after a survey was given by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), of the 18 busiest airports in the U.S., 76% of them offer at least one healthy vegetarian option.

The article states that the reason for this vegetarian trend is to keep passengers healthy, and prevent them from getting sick during their travels, due to the health benefits of vegetarian meals.

The article stated that, Newark airport, notorious for long lines and wait times, was ranked as the nation’s healthiest airport. According to Susan Levin, PCRM director of nutrition education, “Healthful vegetarian meals at airports across the country are just the ticket for traveling light this holiday season. But some airports still serve too many greasy cheeseburgers and slices of pepperoni pizza that leave passengers feeling grounded.”

Quorn Foods Inc. knows how beneficial healthy food can be to your health and keep you healthy in your travels. “Being healthy is one way to ensure you’ll have a great traveling experience,” says Quorn representative David Wilson. “It is nice to see a good amount of airports offering vegetarian meals at their airports, and hopefully more airports follow the trend to help make traveling healthier for passengers.”

Quorn launched nationally in the US in 2002. Unlike other vegetarian food companies, Quorn uses mycoprotein: a naturally occurring, healthy form of protein that replicates the taste and texture of meat while being significantly lower in saturated fats and calories than meat substitutes. Quorn offers a wide range of products including ready to serve meals, food for your barbecue, breaded meat substitutes, snacks and components to make your own meals from scratch. The wonderful taste of Quorn meatless meals provides the taste of the foods you love without sacrificing nutrition.
