Also being recognized is the USO of Metropolitan New York Volunteer of the Year.

The 51st USO Armed Forces Gala and Gold Medal Dinner directly benefits the outstanding members of the U.S. military who serve with dedication, skill and pride, defending the freedoms we cherish and often take for granted. An estimated 550 guests will gather to pay special tribute to our men and women in uniform.

The USO is a private, nonprofit organization, and has been lifting the spirits of America’s troops and their families for more than 70 years. Continually adapting to meet the needs of our troops and their families, today, the USO focuses its support on those who need us most: wounded, ill and injured troops and their families and caregivers, families of the fallen, deployed troops, and military families. All of the USO’s programs and services are made possible by the American people, support of our corporate partners and the dedication of our volunteers and staff.

The USO of Metropolitan New York is committed to providing a variety of services to our troops and their families through such programs as USO Operation Phone Home®, Operation Stuff the Square, United Through Reading’s Military Program, relocation orientation, deployment support, and entertainment through the USO Show Troupe, to name a few.
