In a recent report from Sky News HD Judge Peter Bowers has been reprimanded for a serious error of judgement that offended victims of burglary. On sentencing Richard Rochford, an offender who raided three homes in five days, Judge Bowers told him “It takes a huge amount of courage, as far as I can see, for somebody to burgle somebody's house. I wouldn't have the nerve.”
After acknowledging the trauma burglary victims face, the judge said he would not jail Rochford, who had given up drugs since the February break-ins. He was given a suspended 12- month term, two-year supervision order with drug rehabilitation and 200 hours' unpaid work, with a one-year driving ban.

A spokesperson for Private Investigator Liverpool said:
“Burglars are not courageous, they are mostly opportunists with addictions or money worries. We have had a lot of success with our CCTV and burglar alarm systems in preventing such crimes by making it harder and less inviting for burglars to strike.”
