More than 350 G4S security officers remain at emergency locations protecting people and property throughout the Northeast in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. As officials mark more than one month since the storm, G4S Emergency Response teams will have logged close to 100,000 hours protecting people, property and assets.

G4S Secure Solutions is working with the government as officers continue to work around-the-clock at temporary disaster sites for residents who have been displaced by the storm. G4S officers are also assisting emergency officials with personal security.

As the government continues to provide emergency food, shelter and services to displaced residents, G4S officers are helping to establish order and 24-hour security in staging areas that are essential during the post-hurricane effort.

Security officers, who are part of the elite G4S Emergency Response Team, were deployed to the New York and New Jersey area within 24 hours of clear weather post-hurricane.

Additionally, as many as one thousand G4S officers, who support private businesses in the Northeast, continue to provide additional security as electrical power is restored.

One of the most significant security needs in the wake of the storm is from the financial institutions that are providing mobile ATM sites for their customers. G4S officers are standing guard at bank branch locations that have no electrical power and are providing mobile ATMs for the public.

G4S Emergency Response Teams are experienced in deterring theft and vandalism for commercial business customers whose offices and warehouses are vulnerable because electronic security systems may only be working intermittently. As G4S teams are put in place, customers are better able to recover their business as power is restored.

Beyond the emergency response initiative, G4S is also supporting officers who have had to leave their jobs to join of U.S. National Guard teams deployed in the area. “A significant number, approximately 25%, of G4S employees and security officers are former military personnel, so they are often part of the US National Guard and subject to deployment from time to time, “ said Chuck Brock, G4S Vice President of Strategic Account Operations. “ We support the men and women who continue to provide service to our country in any way we can.”
