Silicon Valley Company recognized for innovation in reputation scoring

Reputation.com today was issued its third United States patent by the United States Patent and Trademark Office for reputation science technologies. U.S. Patent 8,321,413 is Reputation.com’s second specifically for reputation scoring innovation, reinforcing the company’s position as the leading technologist of online reputation management.

“These patents directly result from Reputation.com’s investment in hard technology and science,” said Michael Fertik, CEO and founder of Reputation.com. “It’s also reflective of an emerging trend in Silicon Valley: the return to generating real and meaningful intellectual property.”

Reputation.com’s patents protect its pioneering reputation scoring technology, which enables the company to assess the extent of a customer’s online information, evaluate its effect on that person’s reputation, and determine an accurate reputation score. In the future, at the customer’s request, that score could be provided to a third party for validation of that customer’s general reputation. It could also be used at the customer’s direction to assess more specific attributes – for instance, the individual’s reputation as an employee or employer.

The company’s first patent, issued in early 2012, covered the company’s persona isolation, sentiment analysis and privacy protection technology, including identification, analysis and deletion of personally identifiable information online. This technology detects a customer’s online data flow, flags undesirable content and then implements the effective removal—and ongoing removal—of the targeted data.

Reputation.com has built a powerful suite of solutions to help people safely and confidently navigate the Web. The company’s patented Reputation Science™ technology powers its consumer and business product suites. Reputation.com has received numerous awards for its mission and its technology by organizations including the World Economic Forum, Gartner Inc., PCMagazine, American Business Association, Best in Biz and JMP Securities.
