Gathering the wisdom and life experiences of more than 300 men and women over age 65, author Dan Hare takes an in-depth look at their responses to a series of questions in his new book, “Regrets, They’ve Had A Few: Practical Wisdom From the Aged” (published by Trafford Publishing).

In interviews conducted over a two-year period, Hare focused on the topics of work, lifestyle, marriage, regrets, growing old and finding out if people feel that they’ve made a difference in the world. With each question, he gives a top 10 list of responses.

“This is not written as a self-help book, but it can be if you choose to use it that way,” Hare explains. “Yet it is much more, a human interest story with something for everyone. For the younger person there is a wealth of knowledge and insights into life’s trials and triumphs from those who have lived them. For the not so young, there are familiar stories about some of the struggles and joys that many had in common.”

In one key chapter, Hare asks interviewees to share advice with young people. Their responses include “find out what you enjoy and pursue it,” “work hard to get a good education” and “make the most out of your young lives because nothing is impossible.”
