A recent marketing report shows that a rising number of mobile phone users are using their devices for more social media and internet-based activities. Local search also features highly.

More mobile phone users are opting to only make important calls from their handsets, announced Telecoms World, the UK’s leading supplier of 0800 numbers and other non-geographic numbers.

In a recent report published on the Mail Online website, it appears that a rising number of mobile phone users are using their devices for more social media and internet-based activities. Whilst calls are still being made and received using these devices, these calls are usually to people or companies that are not contactable over another medium such as Facebook or by email. Local search is another huge contributor to the amount of calls a company receives by mobile.

A spokesperson at Telecoms World said “We monitor the telecoms industry very closely so that we can adapt our range of services to suit consumer need and demand. More and more of our customers are asking us what packages we offer that benefit the mobile phone user so that they can attract this huge portion of the market. We have a range of options available including non-geographic numbers like the 03 number range that allow mobile phone users to use their inclusive minutes on the call. It is also looking more likely that Ofcom will make all calls to 0800 numbers from mobiles free in the near future.” recently reported that “mobile advertising and marketing was the fastest growing sector in 2011”. With this in mind, Telecoms World is looking closely at its range of hosted call management packages to see how it can make these products more attractive to those seeking more calls from customers and those looking to make cheaper calls from mobiles.

Neil Barrall, Managing Director of Telecoms World said “Mobile marketing will in effect product more calls. When a mobile user searches for a business on their mobile phone, they will usually call the company directly from their mobile. If companies use a number that offers cheaper calls to mobile users, they are more likely to receive more calls from this segment of the market.”

“This is an exciting time for online retailers and those trading offline who tap into local search functionality. We offer a range of products that are geared towards making calls to your business a more attractive proposition for those calling from mobile phones and from landlines.”

Telecoms World offers a range of numbers that benefit mobile and landline callers and which will benefit any business no matter what the size. Non-geographic numbers mask the location of a business instantly making the business appear larger with a national presence.
