We would like to end 2012 with a bang and, with that being said, we welcome everyone to participate and bid – bid – bid!

If at first you succeed, then, by all means, try, try again. Such certainly might be the mantra for Dollar Self Storage of Corona as it will host its third Charity Storage auction on Wednesday, December 12 at 10:30 a.m. The first two Charity Storage auctions held at Dollar Self Storage were huge successes (bringing in nearly $1500) and having another is good news to The Young Americans organization, as 60% of the money raised will go to the non-profit. Kure It Cancer Research (http://www.kureit.org) will receive 30% of the total amount raised and the Self Storage Association’s (SSA) Foundation Scholarship program will garner 10%.

Dollar Self Storage manager Maria Smith is planning to auction two separate 12x30 units on December 12, with high quality items in each. One of the units has cabinetry from a local business – there are showcases, kitchen cabinets and retail cabinets. There are also countertops, frames, and doors. The second unit is full of household items ranging from a nice pair of rattan chairs to an almost new bunk bed, as well as appliances, sporting goods, clothing, pots & pans, books, art, and much more.

Charity Storage is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising money for charities across the country through special self storage auctions. Charity Storage was created when Lance Watkins and Barry Hoeven watched the popularity of self storage auctions grow and realized that the self storage industry could give back to society through special auctions whose entire proceeds would go to local and national charities.

The Young Americans was founded in 1962 by Milton C. Anderson and is credited with creating the very popular "glee" and "show-choir" concepts in the early 60's. The Young Americans are the oldest and largest youth music advocacy group in the world whose main focus is to help strengthen music education programs in schools and communities. To date, the group has grown to include 250 cast members (ages 16-23) and has taken its love of music and performance all over the world with its International Music Outreach Tours. Their website is http://www.youngamericans.org.

“I am grateful to all of our tenants, neighbors and business partners that have so willingly donated to our Charity Auctions because without their unwavering support, we would not be able to provide the much-needed funding to these three wonderful charities,” says Smith. “We would like to end 2012 with a bang and, with that being said, we welcome everyone to participate and bid – bid – bid!”

“It is because of people like Maria Smith and companies like Dollar Self Storage that we are making a larger and larger impact in helping charities across the country,” says Watkins, also the CEO of StorageTreasures. “We wish her well with this upcoming Charity Storage auction. Maria clearly knows how to put on a great auction and The Young Americans, Kure It Cancer Research and the SSA’s Foundation Scholarship programs will all benefit from her enthusiasm and expertise.”

The Dollar Self Storage facility hosting the Charity Storage auction is located at 1065 E. Third Street, Corona, CA 92879.

Charity Storage is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit recognized as tax exempt by the IRS. Federal Tax ID# 45-3253579. For more information, visit charitystorage.org or E-mail info(at)charitystorage(dot)org.
