Edinburgh Zoo has recently claimed that the arrival of two giant pandas a year ago has boosted its ticket sales by around 50%. The charity in charge of running the zoo, The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland has claimed it is expecting to receive 800,000 visitors by the end of the year, up from 536,000 in 2011. It has been estimated that more than half a million visitors have queued for a glimpse of the female Tian Tian and the larger male, Yang Guang. The pair caused a bit of a stir when they arrived in Scotland last year as the first pandas in the UK for 17 years.
Their first anniversary has been celebrated with a special cake in the shape of the number one, made of rice and soya and smeared with honey. Those who can’t make the trip up to Edinburgh but would still love to show their support for the species can do so by donning one of 8 Ball’s new tees.
The women’s aviator panda t shirt shows an image of a retro style panda wearing a pair of aviator shades and is available in black and purple as well as sizes 8-10 through to 14-16.
The Panda theme is one present through 8 Ball’s collection and those keen on the theme might be interested in the space panda tee featuring one of the endangered species in a full space suit complete with helmet and Panda badge.
