Home Care Assistance, North America’s leading provider of in-home care for seniors, is thrilled to announce the 2012 launch of their annual 12 days of Caring holiday campaign. With a focus on education, appreciation and volunteerism, the company dedicates 12 days throughout the month of December to giving back to their clients, caregivers and community.
Alternating between days dedicated to caregivers, days dedicated to clients and days dedicated to the community, four days are dedicated to each group, totaling 12 day in all. The program gives thanks to the thousands of Home Care Assistance caregivers who dedicate their lives to the well-being of seniors and engages local communities through charitable giving and volunteerism. In addition, Home Care Assistance sponsors special programs and events in the broader senior community to spread this culture of caring and giving.

Home Care Assistance’s 12 Days of Caring campaign focuses each day on a “gift” of some sort—whether it be an employee’s time or a holiday item or event. For example, four employees from the Palo Alto office are volunteering to help the Alzheimer’s Association with a holiday mailing. The Los Gatos office is donating baked goods for a holiday gathering at a local senior center and a gathering at the Peninsula Stroke Association. And all Bay Area Home Care Assistance location’s will donate a tree in the name of each of their caregivers to the Arbor Day Foundation.
Through this campaign, Home Care Assistance offices across North America and Canada spread holiday cheer while continuing to promote education around issues of aging. Due to geographic or time limitations, the winter holiday season may be one of the few opportunities throughout the year that children have to spend time with their aging parents. Local care managers are on call to address family questions and concerns, including how to arrange for respite care during the holidays or tips on setting up a family meeting to discuss the possibility of in-home care.
