Our acquisition of Game Minion allows us to extend the Corona vision and philosophy to the cloud, providing developers with a complete end-to-end platform.
Palo Alto, CA (PRWEB) December 13, 2012
Corona Labs, the world leader in cross-platform mobile development, today announces the acquisition of Game Minion, a mobile cloud services startup funded by Draper Investment Co. The Game Minion services, now rebranded as Corona Cloud, will dramatically accelerate the app creation process for all developers, especially Corona SDK users, as they integrate mobile apps with the cloud.
Game Minion has developed a full suite of cross-platform cloud services, including multi-player gaming, push notifications, sophisticated analytics, cloud storage, leaderboards, achievements, content delivery, and social sharing.
“Game Minion has focused on building services that greatly simplify the amount of work needed to fulfill developers’ backend needs,” says Mohamed Hamedi, Co-Founder of Game Minion. “Through this acquisition, we will provide the most complete end-to-end mobile development platform on the market. Features that would normally require the integration of half a dozen SDKs will be offered by Corona Labs in just one, neatly-packaged API.”
While Corona Cloud will be available to all mobile developers, Corona SDK’s community of over 200,000 users will enjoy unparalleled development speeds, due to a seamless integration of the on-device power of Corona SDK with a complete Backend as a Service (BaaS). This developer-centric offering is the first of its kind and streamlines the entire app development cycle.
“The mobile industry is evolving at an incredible speed and developers need to deal with increased complexity each day. Our acquisition of Game Minion allows us to extend the Corona vision and philosophy to the cloud, providing developers with a complete end-to-end platform,” says Walter Luh, CEO of Corona Labs. “The efficiency of Corona SDK developers, already 10x that of their peers, will only increase with the power of Corona Cloud.”
Corona Cloud is currently in closed beta and is expected to launch in Q1 2013.
