In Otto Nieks’ new novel “Life at Ten Degrees” (published by iUniverse), two former lovers take an unforgettable Caribbean adventure together as both face the difficult decision whether to sacrifice independence for love.
Six years after setting out to find the rest of his life aboard ship in the Caribbean Sea, Pete and his boat Thelma navigate toward the Bahamas, he receives an e-mail from Jo Taylor, an old girlfriend who asks to sail with him for two weeks. Once they are reunited, Pete rekindles the spirit he once thought he lost and rediscovers love in the process.
As Pete introduces Jo to all his friends and they begin a new journey together, they soon discover that life at sea comes with diverse challenges that include violent storms, drug smugglers, hidden coves and run-ins with the U.S. Navy.
“This book will appeal to anyone with a wandering soul,” Nieks says. “I think everyone seeks a getaway from the stress of their daily lives.” “Life at Ten Degrees,” he says, is a book not just about sailing, but about love and friendship.
