“Initially, writing was a just a fun hobby for me,” Babcock writes, “but now these poems have become a gateway to nostalgia and the intoxicating memory of experience in irony, laughter, melancholy, life and love.”

Poet kim chul Babcock, describing his new poetry collection “from Lightness bleeds the Dark within” (published by AuthorHouse), calls it “… my journey through life and the satirical, humorous, melancholy, and sentimental attributes and perspectives people of all cultures have given me.”

Every poem has layers of deeper meaning. Readers will understand the first few layers just by reading them, but the more they think about the words and how they are placed together, the more layers within layers within layers of meaning they may contrive. “Nothing is randomly placed together,” Babcock says. “When there are grammatical or misspelled words, they are done to emphasize a particular theme within the writing.”

An excerpt from “from Lightness bleeds the Dark within”:

from Lightness bleeds the Dark within.
prancing demons, this bleak chagrin
to form no mind in sturdy paths
nor write the wailing epitaphs.
of goodly parents, came the boy
who taught in empathy, soothes, & joy.
yet, mired in his own demise
were varied views in dark disguise.

“Initially, writing was a just a fun hobby for me,” Babcock writes, “but now these poems have become a gateway to nostalgia and the intoxicating memory of experience in irony, laughter, melancholy, life and love.”
