This case is very interesting and we are delighted that DNA has such a high profile as being the link needed to catch the offender

John Elam, 44, was jailed for four years for the attempted rape of a university student in Coventry as she walked home early in the morning. The female student managed to fight him off by clawing his face with her nails. He was jailed and put on the sex offenders register by the Judge at Warwick Crown Court on 3rd December (T20127276) after admitting he attempted to rape the woman on June 22 2012
It was microscopic skin cells found under the victim’s nails that gave West Midlands Police all the DNA they needed to give them a prime suspect in Elam. He originally admitted to sexual assault but West Midlands Police felt that that was not serious enough so they pushed for attempted rape which they got enough evidence against John Elam to make him plead guilty.
The detectives at Private Detective Cardiff offer DNA testing services to prove paternity issues among other personal issues.
