Alliance Global Services is pleased to announce its sponsorship of PACT’s Healthcare IT Series, a new initiative designed to leverage this high growth sector. The program, consisting of three educational events featuring industry experts, was launched on Thursday, November 29th with “Megatrends & Healthcare IT: Brave new world or more of the same”. Alliance developed the series along with PACT, the Greater Philadelphia Alliance for Capital and Technologies. Other co-sponsors of the inaugural session included Independence Blue Cross and Duane Morris.
According to John Castleman, President and CEO, “Healthcare IT is experiencing a growth spurt, particularly in the Philadelphia region, where so many pharmaceutical and healthcare companies are headquartered. There is no doubt that software has dramatically transformed other areas of our lives, like banking, research, and consumer goods; and going forward, new software products will also advance the way healthcare is provided, managed, and insured.”
Castleman continues, “Data seems to be one of the biggest obstacles. In addition to the need for reconciling clinical data with transactional data to facilitate better decision-making, issues remain regarding ownership of and access to the data. Resolving these issues won’t be easy, but the political and economic climates are ripe for transformation. This series is a great launching pad for a meaningful dialogue with a broad audience and Alliance is pleased to play an important role.”
Thursday’s kick-off event had over one hundred attendees and featured a panel of experts moderated by Tom Olenzak from Independence Blue Cross, including Ravi Chawla, Director of Informatics, Independence Blue Cross; C. William Hanson III, MD, Chief Medical Information Officer and Vice President, University of Pennsylvania Health System; Tom Wilton, Direct or Strategic Business, GlaxoSmithKline; and Mitchell goldman, Partner, Duane Morris LLP.
