Being an avid reader of mystery and suspense novels, M. Monroe wondered if he could extract the same feelings of tension and excitement that he felt when reading from others. He accepted the challenge and penned “Chain Reaction” (published by iUniverse).
After looking at his life, Professor Christopher Lawrence decides that he is tired of living alone. With this mindset, he invites a foreign exchange student, Mustafa Aziz, to rent the apartment over his garage. He has high hopes that Mustafa will bring a lively, culturally diverse life with him that might lead to intriguing and engaging conversations. So, within a week, Mustafa Aziz, an emotionally distant exchange student from Liberia, moves in.
However, two months later, Aziz mysteriously disappears. Christopher decides that it is up to him to find out what happened to Mustafa after the police decide the case is not worth taking. Armed with Mustafa’s wallet, a strange coded message and an ornate prayer rod, Christopher begins to investigate the unknown life of his renter. What he could have never guessed is that his investigation has set of a chain reaction that will soon transform his simple, quiet life into one full of danger.
In this gripping mystery tale, a college professor must discover what happened before it is too late.
An excerpt from “Chain Reaction”:
“I heard a funny beating sound. I thought that maybe I was hallucinating. It was a pounding sound, like someone was hitting a rug to beat the dust out. It got louder. Next I heard a whining sound. It got louder, so loud that it hurt my ears. Then there was an explosion in the direction of the building. A ball of orange flame rolled up into the night sky. The beating sound was now deafening. I could hear sound of gunfire. I looked back toward the road and saw shadows moving toward us. The sound was deafening. There was another explosion. The shadows were right on top of us.”
