The campaign enables women, men, and children to share their journey of tragedy to triumph through multiple creative channels — video, multi-media and written submissions — and participate in a global search for the most moving empowerment story.
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) December 13, 2012
Transcending borders and cultures, women, men, and children can now share their journey of tragedy to triumph over abuse in the Global Women’s Empowerment Network’s (GWEN) “Tell Us Your Story” campaign (http://www.GWENNetwork.org). The two-month global search for the most moving empowerment story runs December 13, 2012 through February 13, 2013.
At the close of submissions, the GWEN community will vote for the most compelling story and the selected storyteller will have the opportunity to have a professional Hollywood production crew film their story and be a guest on GWEN’s upcoming docu-series.
Those interested in sharing their vision, passion, and experiences of healing can submit a video of up to three minutes long focusing on such topics as domestic abuse, sexual abuse, bullying and human trafficking. The deadline is February 13, 2013 at 12 a.m. PST.
Submission is easy. No need for fancy cameras, video editing software or an extensive music library, participants can simply use their computer, phone, or digital camera, upload content to the GWEN video editing browser at http://www.GWENNetwork.org and get started. The GWEN cloud-based editor does the rest without having to download any software – it is all accessible through the GWEN browser.
GWEN co-founder and COO Tess Cacciatore explained that the organization created the “Tell Us Your Story” campaign to give a voice to those who are ready to share and begin to heal. “The campaign enables women, men, and children to share their journey of tragedy to triumph through multiple creative channels — video, multi-media and written submissions — and participate in a global search for the most moving empowerment story.”
To kick off the program and provide a sample video, Cacciatore directed, shot and edited a PSA for the "Tell Us Your Story" campaign featuring TV star Chelsea Tavares, who most recently played Jordan Randall on "Make it Or Break It." The three-part PSA shares Tavares' story and poem she wrote about her experience as a victim of abuse.
Cacciatore said, "I created the PSA to make sure Chelsea's voice was heard and to give others the courage to tell their story. Chelsea shares GWEN's passion for letting victims of abuse know they are not alone. By telling their story, they can begin to heal and help others begin their healing process as well."
Cacciatore also created the following video on National Human Rights Day previewing the campaign: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z524Fiv6mDI&feature=youtu.be.
Founded in 2012, the Global Women's Empowerment Network (GWEN) is a global nonprofit organization that uses technology, multimedia programming, and socially conscious product lines to raise awareness and funding to support programs that aid in the healing of women and children who have experienced violence and abuse. This fall, GWEN (http://www.GWENNetwork.org) launched its first two programs designed to provide communication and cause-related solutions that inspire victims to cultivate, strengthen, and share their inner voice to gain confidence and heal - the GWEN Alert, a free safety phone app for smart phones available through iTunes and The “Tell Us Your Story” campaign.
The organization is seeking mentors and coaches. If interested, please email media(at)gwennetwork(dot)org.
