Leading online promotions company, SEO Positive, have responded to the results of Google’s Zeitgeist 2012.

Topping the list of the UK’s top trending searches was Euro 2012 and Olympic tickets. The most searched for people were Whitney Houston, Kate Middleton and Gary Barlow.

SEO Positive have analysed The Google Zeitgeist which details the trending topics that have had the highest amount of traffic over a sustained period in 2012. This year saw 1.2 trillion searches in 146 languages across the world.

As specialists in search engine optimisation, the online promotion company were intrigued to find out what had topped the list this year. The company constantly monitors search data and analytics to find the best search terms for their clients to push their search rankings higher.

Whitney Houston was the world’s highest trending search, followed by Gangnam Style and Hurricane Sandy. Also making the top ten was iPad 3, Kate Middleton and Olympics 2012. Topping the list of the UK’s top trending searches was Euro 2012 and Olympic tickets. The most searched for people were Whitney Houston, Kate Middleton and Gary Barlow.

At the top of the local places search list for the UK was hotel followed by restaurant, pubs, camping and Tesco. Parking and train station also featured in the top ten.
