Arlington, VA (PRWEB) December 17, 2012
The Association for Enterprise Information (AFEI) is proud to announce the winners of its 2012 Excellence in Enterprise Information Awards.
The top Industry Award was given to CGH Technologies of Washington, D.C. for its Federal Notice to Airman System Modernization program. The top Government Award was given to the Department of Veterans Affairs Veteran Health Administration for its Project Management Accountability System. These awards signify outstanding, innovative use of technology to increase efficiency and improve operations across an enterprise.
The winning organizations demonstrated, in the opinion of the judges, the best applications of technology and leadership to improve enterprise performance. Innovative approaches, quantifiable metrics, long-term strategic effect, cultural change and measureable accomplishments were all clear attributes of the winning nominations.
Several nominations were also recognized with Honorable Mention Awards for excellent achievement. These projects are the Air Force Automated Education Management System (AFAEMS), performed by BAM Technologies of Arlington, VA; the Mobile Information Collection Application (MICA), performed by the US Army Engineer Research and Development Center, Vicksburg, MS; the Training Technological Transformation performed by the USAF 505th Training Squadron, Hurlburt Field, FL; and the Live Training Transformation, performed by the Project Manager Training Devices (PM TRADE), US Army PEO STRI, Orlando, FL.
Brig. Gen. Robert E. Mansfield, Jr., USAF (Ret.), Aerospace Executive Director, Center for Aviation and Aerospace Leadership at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Worldwide, was one of this year’s judges. “The Excellence in Enterprise Information awards program is a great competition, and selecting a winner is always difficult because there are so many exceptional nominations,” he said. “What is clear is that there are some superb and innovative IT programs being delivered in government,” added General Mansfield. Another judge, Dr. James A. Rodger, Professor of Management Information Systems at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and author of Smart Data, said “Being a judge has raised my level of awareness about the tremendous work being done by both Industry and Government in combining innovation and emerging technologies to solve complex problems, creating remarkable value for enterprises.”
“AFEI is extremely proud of this awards program” said David Chesebrough, President of the association. “This year we received over 70 nominations. Reading through the submissions provides insight into the outstanding work being done in both Government and Industry. Many of these nominations are deserving of recognition, and we are supporting the Federal CIO Council to give greater visibility to these excellent programs.”
