Carson Dunlop and Pennsylvania College of Technology have formed a strategic partnership to offer a career home inspection training program. The comprehensive 10-course certificate program is available through distance learning. Content is delivered in a highly visual and easy to understand format. The noncredit program is focused on practical applied technical knowledge, providing a solid foundation for success in the home inspection field.
The comprehensive education program covering all aspects of the home inspection profession was created by two leaders in the field – Carson Dunlop and the American Society of Home Inspectors. The 10 courses were developed in collaboration with education design consultants and distance education specialists. Special Note: In Pennsylvania, you are required to participate in 100 home inspections, be a full member in good standing of a national/not-for-profit home inspection association (or be supervised by someone who is), comply with a code of conduct and attend continuing professional education classes as an ongoing condition of membership, and maintain insurance against errors and omissions and general liability coverage. These are not included with the online program.
“We are thrilled to be working in partnership with Pennsylvania College of Technology” commented Alan Carson, President of Carson Dunlop. The ability to offer our program through reputable colleges creates new opportunities for individuals looking to pursue a career in the home inspection field.”
“The partnership enhances Pennsylvania College of Technology’s ability to offer quality, relevant continuing education to our students. The new courses will broaden the variety of topics currently available at the college. We have the opportunity to make a difference every day in the lives of others on our campus, in the workforce, and throughout our communities,” said Shannon Munro – Executive Director, Workforce Development & Continuing Education.
The education program leverages Carson Dunlop's 34 years as a leading consulting engineering firm in the home inspection field. Carson Dunlop have considerable experience on the education side of home inspection, including classroom teaching, published textbooks, online courses, conference presentations, webinars, papers and articles.
The home inspection training program uses a consistent methodology across the 10 textbooks and CD-ROMs. The focus is on practical applied knowledge rather than theoretical discussion. As part of the education program, Carson Dunlop provides students with free access to their cloud-based report writing system, Horizon, to help them develop the necessary report writing skills.
