Des Moines, Iowa (PRWEB) December 16, 2012
Internationally recognized as The Privacy Professor®, Rebecca Herold, a Des Moines, Iowa-based information security and privacy expert, has been invited to be a Privacy by Design (PbD) Ambassador. Herold is being recognized as an Ambassador for her ongoing advocacy for the protection of personal information.
Developed by Dr. Ann Cavoukian, Information and Privacy Commissioner, Ontario, Canada, Privacy by Design seeks to proactively embed privacy into the design specifications of information technologies, organizational practices and networked system architectures. PbD was unanimously approved as an international framework for privacy protection in 2010 and has been translated into 25 languages.
“I am honored to be named as an Ambassador for Privacy by Design,” said Herold. “In today’s digital society, consumers regularly adopt new technologies and integrate them into their lives, and businesses into their services and products, without truly understanding how they may be capturing, using or distributing personal, private information. It is my mission to help businesses and consumers to become more aware of these privacy concerns and to advocate for immediate and ongoing actions to protect their personal information and how it is used. This concept of building privacy into business processes from the very beginning is what I’ve also incorporated into my Compliance Helper services, as well as my Privacy Professor training and awareness offerings.”
As PbD Ambassador, Herold joins an exclusive group of world-wide privacy thought-leaders committed to ensuring the ongoing protection of personal information by following the Principles of PbD. Herold will continue to advance the case for embedding privacy protective measures in technology, processes and physical design.
