On December 17, 2012, Quorn Foods Inc. comments on a Daily Meal article by Melissa Valiant regarding a list of easy vegetarian recipes for soup to keep you warm during the chilly days of winter.

According to the Daily Meal article, “Believe it or not, there is more to cold-weather soups than butternut squash…With so much incredible produce in season, the possibilities are endless.”

The article mentions that kale, red peppers, carrots, and the seasonal favorite pumpkin, with the addition of a good stock, can produce a delicious vegetarian soup for the wintertime. The article lists sweet potato cauliflower soup, roasted red pepper and tomato soup and spiced carrot ginger soup as some gourmet soup recipes to satisfy the vegetarian palate this winter.

According to the article these recipes all feature tasty seasonal veggies and some are also “suitable for vegans and gluten-free eaters.” The article states that the recipes are a “delicious way to warm up as the cold weather sets in.”

Quorn Foods Inc. commends the article on its creative ideas for making soups for the cold season and offers some easy vegetarian recipes of their own. “Soup can be a dull meal, especially for vegetarians and consumers looking to reduce their meat consumption. But this article offers different and creative ways to make a tasty soup for a vegetarian diet,” says Quorn representative David Wilson. “Quorn also offers a tasty vegetarian Thai-style coconut soup with a chicken meat alternative that’s sure to warm you up during the chilly months.”

Quorn launched nationally in the US in 2002. Unlike other vegetarian food companies, Quorn uses mycoprotein: a naturally occurring, healthy form of protein that replicates the taste and texture of meat while being significantly lower in saturated fats and calories than meat substitutes. Quorn offers a wide range of products including ready to serve meals, food for your barbecue, breaded meat substitutes, snacks and components to make your own meals from scratch. The wonderful taste of Quorn meatless meals provides the taste of the foods you love without sacrificing nutrition.
