They enjoyed making soft, cuddly blankets that could bring a smile to these children whose lives have spiraled out of control due to circumstances they don’t understand and have no power over.

Wellington, FL (PRWEB) December 18, 2012

Working in the Ladies Card Room of the Wycliffe Golf and Country Club, volunteers turned 80 pieces of colorful fleece fabric into blankets to be given to children who have been victims of abuse, neglect or abandonment, or whose mothers have sought safety in the local battered women’s shelter.

Judy Traub, organizer of the Blankee Bee said that, “the women who participated were happy to be able to contribute something tangible for some of the most damaged children in the county. They enjoyed making soft, cuddly blankets that could bring a smile to these children whose lives have spiraled out of control due to circumstances they don’t understand and have no power over.”

NCJW will deliver the blankets to the Guardian ad Litem Program of the 15th Judicial Circuit, Palm Beach County, which provides guardians to speak in court for children who have been removed from their homes because of abuse, neglect or abandonment. They will also deliver the blankets to Harmony House, the battered women’s shelter operated by the YWCA of Palm Beach County.

This Blankee Bee was the third NCJW has done at Wycliffe Country Club in the past few years. The club staff has supported the effort, and volunteers especially enjoyed shoulder massages from licensed massage therapist, Abby Karasik of the spa staff as they cut and knotted fringe on the edge of the blankets they were making.
