Within the pages of GeGe Hensel’s new book, The ABC Animal Adventures ($32.99, paperback, 978-1-62419-788-8; $42.99, hardcover, 978-1-62419-789-5; $9.99, e-book, 978-1-62419-790-1) is a storybook for children of all ages. It is a fun read, while effectively teaching the recognition of the letters of the alphabet through repetition. Each story also relates examples of exploring possibilities, having discipline, and treating others well. The author uses a succession of words with the same letter to weave a whimsical tale that will ignite the imagination of the child while they are learning the alphabet.
“It takes a fresh, new approach to teaching the alphabet,” states the author. “The book is compiled of twenty-six delightful stories, each representing one letter of the alphabet. This book is meant to be read to small children, ages three to six. It is my hope it will give them a head start learning the alphabet before they begin school. This book would also make an excellent addition in classrooms to aid young children in their reading as it can easily be adapted to a ‘Reader’s Theater’ format.”
Author, GeGe (Sylvia) Hensel began her writing career at the age of seventy-one by entering Faithwriter’s weekly competition. Within five submissions, she advanced three levels and won the “Editor’s Choice Award.” Her story then appeared in their magazine. She now writes for two Christian international online magazines, and has been published in “Yesterday’s Memories.”
She has also written a Christian devotional, From the Heart of a Woman, which was published in 2011 under the name of Sylvia Hensel.
