As the majority of our country continues to move into the digital age, one segment of the population is often overlooked. The new generation of medical alert systems will contact the 24-hour monitoring center without the need for a landline. Users are now able to “cut the cord”, eliminating the concern regarding the wired connection to the telephone line. The cellular capability is completely built into the medical alert system, allowing emergency calls to be made over the cellular network.
The next 30 years should produce much greater innovation from this industry. With GPS technology making its way into medical alert systems, we should soon see some interesting tracking capabilities for Seniors. Let’s hope the trend continues for this all-important service.
