Today, an innovative new illustrated children's book was released entitled "Me, My Pillow and Kicking Feet." The book was written by practicing Tampa podiatrist and foot surgeon Robert Creighton and illustrated by Lindsey Martin.

"Me, My Pillow and Kicking Feet" is one of those classic stories for kids that explores underlying childhood and parent-child relationship themes, but doesn't take itself too seriously. The book covers a little boy who enjoys kicking his pillows at home, down the street, in the grocery store and even at the zoo. His father must explain, "Pillows are for your head, not for your feet." Finally, the child learns that his pillow must be kept clean because, “Pillows are for your head and should remain on the bed.”

Dr. Creighton wrote Me, My Pillow and Kicking Feet when his children were young, and it remained dormant on his computer for years. He explains, "The story was inspired by my own children, who were notorious pillow kickers. They often used their pillows for play leaving them on the floor and stepping on them. As a foot specialist who treats diseased feet all day, this habit became a pet peeve of mine. After a long day in the clinic, it was especially difficult to see pillows on the floor and then later put back on the bed for potential use."

On his inspiration to create stories for kids, Dr. Creighton adds, “Children get into things that seem fun, but may not always be best, and there are things they may be exposed to that parents can teach them about in a caring way.”

Lindsey Martin is currently completing her major in Fine Art/Studio Art at the University of South Florida. Dr. Creighton stated, "It was a pleasure collaborating with Ms. Martin on this project. Her artwork and creative input really brought the children's book to life."

The physical book is $9.97 and available through Amazon.com at CreateSpace and the digital version at the Kindle Store. It will also be available through Barnes and Noble, Ingram and Baker & Taylor. More information is available at CreightonWrites.com.
