“Insurance fraud is a serious crime. False injuries such as whiplash or back problems can be difficult to prove so we are asked to watch a person for a few hours to see if their behaviour is that of an injured person

The Mail on Sunday have been campaigning to end the scandal of bogus whiplash claims and have reported a victory as Justice Secretary Chris Grayling announced that they will be introducing independent medical panels to assess the validity of whiplash cases. The Mail on Sunday have a series of reports exposing the practices of claims management companies, showing referrals for car-crash victims to no-win, no fee law firms for cash.
Mr Grayling said:
‘We are proposing action to support effective whiplash diagnosis by medical experts and to simplify procedures that will help to bring speculative or fraudulent claims before a judge,’
However a spokesperson for the Association of British Insurers said:
‘For too long, whiplash has been seen as the “fraud of choice”.
‘More effective diagnosis of whiplash will help genuine claimants get paid out quickly and reduce the scope for fraud, so helping to ensure that honest motorists do not end up footing the bill for the cheats.’
Insurance premiums are estimated to fall by up to £50 a year if the proposal is successful.
Detectives at Private Detective Bristol are called upon to carry out covert surveillance on targets that are suspected of being dishonest about whiplash and/ or other injuries.
A spokesperson from Bristol Private Detective said:
“Insurance fraud is a serious crime. False injuries such as whiplash or back problems can be difficult to prove so we are asked to watch a person for a few hours to see if their behaviour is that of an injured person.”
