Mega Fancy Dress expects 'The Hobbit' costumes to be very popular this holiday season and closer to World Book Day in March.

The first movie in Peter Jackson’s ‘The Lord of the Rings’ prequel-trilogy, ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’, hit cinemas on 13th December 2012. The other two movies of the trilogy are set to release in 2013 and 2014. Martin Freeman stars as the adventurous Hobbit ‘Bilbo Baggins’, appearing far younger than he did in the ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogy. Ian McKellen’s ‘Gandalf’ also features prominently in the movie, other ‘The Lord of the Rings’ characters also appear in the film, most of which are played by the same actors. The story sees ‘Bilbo Baggins’ embark on a dangerous adventure with a group of Dwarves.
While ‘The Lord of the Rings’ movie trilogy has been released before ‘The Hobbit’, the books were actually released the other way around, with J. R. R. Tolkien’s ‘The Hobbit’ book published in 1937, and his first ‘Lord of the Rings’ book published in 1954. Mega Fancy Dress expects ‘The Hobbit’ costumes to be very popular this holiday season and closer to World Book Day in March, where schools encourage children to dress up as and celebrate their favourite book characters.
It’s been 9 years since the release of ‘The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King’, a long wait for movie-goers to experience Middle-Earth again. ‘Return of the King’ managed to win a Best Picture Academy Award among numerous other accolades. Director Peter Jackson has kept up with the times and has decided to incorporate many new techniques; ‘The Hobbit’ was shot in stereoscopic 3D at an increased frame-rate, with some scenes shot in IMAX.
‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogy exceeded box-office expectations and achieved $2.9 billion globally; the bar has been set much higher for ‘The Hobbit’ which is expected to out-gross its rivals such as ‘Skyfall’ and ‘Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2’. ‘The Hobbit’ has already outperformed the debut of ‘The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King’ taking in $84.8 million against $72.7 million, and has set a December opening day box-office record in the process. Between trilogies Peter Jackson has produced a number of films such as ‘District 9’ and ‘The Adventures of Tintin, as well as direct ‘King Kong’ and ‘Lovely Bones’. He is fairly occupied now though with ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’ and ‘The Hobbit: There and Back Again’ set to release in 2013 and 2014 respectively.
The latest range of officially-licensed ‘The Hobbit’ costumes from Mega Fancy Dress come in several flavours from classic to premium, to accommodate all sorts of budgets. However, for those wanting to go all out, there are deluxe kid’s Bilbo Baggins and Dwarf Thorin costumes available. Movie character costumes are always a popular choice for a good Christmas present. There is a huge range of other Christmas fancy dress choice available, some kids use Christmas to show off their latest movie costume. With the major success of ‘The Lord of the Rings’ films and the 3D phenomenon still sweeping the nation, we expect ‘The Hobbit’ to be exceed expectations, and think we can expect to see lots Hobbits and Dwarves on the streets soon!
