CBJWT Creative Director Andy Cheetham discovered Lucinda’s demo ‘Inside & Out’ on YouTube. The song fit so perfectly with the campaign that it had to be used.
(PRWEB UK) 19 December 2012
When an unknown 13-year-old Australian singer/songwriter wrote a song and uploaded a demo to YouTube in April, she couldn’t possibly have imagined that by the end of the year she would be recording it at the world famous Abbey Road studios in London with session musicians and a professional producer to feature on the soundtrack of a national TV advertising campaign.
Yet thanks to Manchester advertising agency CheethamBellJWT that is exactly what happened to Lucinda Nicholls from Perth, Western Australia, who has just returned back home after a whirlwind one week trip to the UK.
CBJWT Creative Director Andy Cheetham discovered Lucinda’s demo ‘Inside & Out’ whilst trawling YouTube looking for a soundtrack for a new client campaign. When he heard the demo, the song fit so perfectly with the campaign that it had to be used.
Lucinda was contacted through her social media profiles, and after her parents immediately agreed to the idea session time was booked at Abbey Road, the family were flown to the UK and the track recorded ready for the ad to be produced.
Lucinda’s original demo and behind the scenes footage of the recordings have racked up over 20,000 views on YouTube already. Her story of unknown singer to an Abbey Road recording studio via a single YouTube demo has already caught the hearts and minds of the public in her native Australia, particularly with the track originally having been written for a friend suffering from the low self-esteem and image issues that many teenage girls face.
UK audiences will be able to hear the track on Magnet Kitchen’s 2013 TV commercial that launches on Wednesday December 19th. Session videos of the song and a behind the scenes clip of the recording of the song can both be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/CBJWTManchester, and Lucinda Nicholls’ debut track ‘Inside & Out’ is now available for purchase on iTunes.
