AdvisorsMD Healthcare Consulting firm is donating funds to Mision Vida Nueva in Alta Verapaz, Guatemala. The funds will support the non-profit organization's efforts to build Casa Gloria, a home for orphaned and abandoned children in the area.
Non-profit organization Mision Vida Nueva was founded by AdvisorsMD software programmer, Geoffrey Haynes and his wife Jenna. In December, 2011, the couple relocated from Montgomery, Alabama to Guatemala with the desire to give a new life to orphaned and abandoned children living in in the Alta Verapaz Department.
"We are honored to be able to assist Geoffrey in this monumental effort to help the children of Guatemala," stated AdvisorsMD principal Ashleigh McKenzie. "His dedication to this ministry and to the children of Alta Verapaz is truly humbling," she said.
In May of 2012, Mision Vida Nueva purchased the land that will hold the first children’s home to be named Casa Gloria. Casa Gloria will provide a safe haven for these children where they will be fed, clothed, cared for, and given professional medical assistance. In addition to housing assistance,Casa Gloria will also provide the children with a Christian education, allowing them to study the Bible and worship in their native language.
The children will be taught English, and they will learn trades according to their interests and abilities. Upon graduation, the students will be prepared to support themselves independently.
Mision Vida Nueva founder Jenna Haynes stated, "We are now starting to prepare for mission teams and groups to come down and work alongside of us in 2013. We will have construction teams for Casa Gloria, the children's home, community service teams, missions to the dump, travelling teams, and more. Anyone interested in seeing our work can visit misionvidanueva(at)yahoo(dot)com for more information on how they can serve the Lord by serving the poor, the orphaned, and the lost here in Guatemala in the year to come."
