Ammunition trends expert Max Newman of Ammoalert.com predicts ammo prices will surge 5-10% in 2013. "Yes, the cost of ammo will go up significantly in 2013," says Newman. "Not to mention," Newman continues, "ammo will go up at least that much each year in the foreseeable future. People have come to the realization that ammunition is not only vitally useful, but also a store of value, much like silver or gold."
While the cost of ammunition seems set to rise there is another trend afoot in the ammo industry. That is the purchase of bulk ammunition or 'bulk ammo'. Bulk ammunition is typically considered to be a single purchase of one thousand rounds or more.
The two trends of rising costs and bulk ammunition purchases are converging and causing concerns of ammunition shortages. Gun owners still remember the massive ammunition shortages of 2009 and don't want to be caught without ammunition again.
