These are among the most formidable disruptors in local media.
New York, NY (PRWEB) December 18, 2012
Borrell Associates Inc. has tapped founders and key executives from the largest and fastest-growing local media disruptors to speak at its 2013 Local Online Advertising Conference March 4-5 in New York City. Details can be found at http://www.borrellassociates.com.
Speakers include key executives from Pandora, Autotrader.com, Yelp, ReachLocal, Patch, Facebook and YP.com. Combined, these seven companies added more than $1 billion to their revenues in 2012, siphoning it from traditional media companies, according to Borrell Associates. They grew their collective U.S. advertising revenues from $4.6 billion in 2011 to $5.6 billion this year, averaging 20% growth, according to Borrell.
“These are among the most formidable disruptors in local media,” said Gordon Borrell, CEO of Borrell Associates. “Patch doubled its revenues, and sales at Yelp and Pandora are growing at by more than 50%. Two of them – Autotrader and YP.com – are already billion-dollar media companies and don’t show signs of flat-lining anytime soon. Their strategies are fascinating, and apparently working quite well. Traditional media operators can learn a lot from them.”
“The Disruptors” are among the nearly 50 digital leaders from newspaper, TV, cable radio, yellow pages, ad agencies and Internet pureplay companies who will address the conference.
- Chip Perry, CEO of Autotrader.com
- John Trimble, chief revenue officer, Pandora
- Mike Ghaffary, director of business development, Yelp
- Warren Webster, president of Patch.com
- Nathan Hanks, co-founder and president of ReachLocal
- Mike Levy, director of small business, Facebook
- Gian Fulgoni, chairman and co-founder of comScore
Borrell’s annual conference is the largest gathering of online media executives in North America. An audience of more than 500 is expected for the 2013 gathering.
The conference also offers a wildly popular “buzz session” where leading suppliers to the local online media industry are challenged to offer a compelling best-practice case study in four minutes or less – or get buzzed off the stage. Sponsors and exhibitors include Yahoo!, NRS Media, YP.com, AdMall, Second Street Media, Neustar, Impact Engines, AdTaxi, Agendize, Aqua Media Direct, LiveIntent, PaperG and WorldNow.
Borrell’s Local Online Advertising Conference kicks off the evening of March 3 with a pre-conference cocktail party. The main conference begins March 4 and runs through March 5. All events will be held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel next to Grand Central Station in New York. For information or to register, visit http://www.borrellassociates.com
