Zanetti Menswear, a staple in fine men’s apparel since the early 90’s, recently launched their Spring 2013 lines with a photo shoot by fashion photographer Odessy Barbu at the historically stylish Los Angeles home of James F. Goldstein. Prior to the photo shoot, a few “sneak peaks” of new Zanetti product were showcased to good reviews during both 2012 MrKet shows. The creatives behind Zanetti’s five labels have infused the new product with vitality and dynamic appeal through smart choices in color, lining, and cuts that move extremely well. The motif was inspired by the concept of “contrapposto” - Italian for “counter-pose”, the term for a technique used in ancient Greek sculpture to make figures look like they are in motion.
Of the new designs, the new jackets best illustrate this motif. Within each label, Zanetti has given pride of place to the new style of textured, soft-shouldered jackets. The textile work is impeccable, and the jackets have a relaxed spirit that is bolstered in the fit, the mold of the shoulders, and the texture and contour of the fabrics. The jackets are designed to feel good and to look as good in motion as standing still. Zanetti’s designers also made inventive choices in stitching, lining and tailoring. The use of elbow patches here and there brings diversity to the various collections. The combined effect of these nuances is not only good looking and versatile, but also facilitates elegant freedom of movement.

As slim fitting menswear becomes more mainstream, designers must engineer slim-fitting suits that move and breathe well to fit a broader variety of consumers. Thus, Zanetti has focused on addressing consumer sensitivities toward movement and “wearability” of fine apparel and fine men’s coordinates. The new product lines feature wool-lycra stretch blends, which make apparel comfortable for a broad range of lifestyles. Because of choices like this, most of the spring jackets and pants are just as good for the boardroom or office as they are for the golf course or day-to-night outing. The spring lines also offer work in wool and silk, and a healthy selection of shirts. The new selections feature a good range of tasteful, muted colors and generally radiate a jaunty, youthful energy.
“Our new lines are for all iterations of the dynamic and well-dressed male: young, mature, professional, retired, and everything in between,” says Crespy.
