The ThedaCare Center for Healthcare Value has launched the Clinical Business Intelligence Network (CBIN), a peer-to-peer learning community that was born out of the Center’s initial Business Intelligence Discovery Summit in November.

The purpose of the network is to bring together healthcare information leaders with leaders in business intelligence and IT to learn, share and connect with one another. This collaboration improves the value of their work and supports the performance improvement journey of their organizations.

The summit brought together 36 healthcare leaders to discover the challenges faced by data and reporting systems. Participants agreed that without access to clinical business intelligence expertise, delivery systems are all working independently to meet this need for their organizations, resulting in redundant efforts and slower delivery of information.

“The goal of the CBIN is to continue to collaborate and share experiences with our peers and foster the realization of higher value from health care information,” said Julie Bartels, executive vice president of National Health Information for the Center.

As a CBIN member, organizations get direct access to business intelligence and healthcare lean IT thought leaders, and receive expert assistance in developing a clinical business intelligence road map. Members also will be able to participate in several events throughout the year, including one free registration to the annual Lean Healthcare Transformation Summit or a two-day Lean IT workshop, and a gemba visit to ThedaCare to learn from IT, clinical business intelligence and clinical operations leaders.

To become a CBIN member, organizations must commit to sharing tools, best practices and strategies with Network members, participating in Network activities and the annual lean summit or Lean IT workshop, and hosting a visit at their organization.
