Of every dollar spent in litigation, 70 to 80 percent is spent on document review. Our value proposition is founded on our ability to reduce documents early

Rochester, NY (PRWEB) December 18, 2012

D4, LLC, a national leader in litigation support and eDiscovery services to law firms and corporate law departments, today announced that the deployment of a Dell Compellent array is enabling the company to support an annual 30 to 40 percent revenue growth and save $250,000 in storage costs through the use of Dell Compellent’s automated storage tiering technology. The Dell system allows D4 to reclaim 25 terabytes of storage per year bringing additional benefits to its customers and enables D4 to keep up with data volumes that double every 18 months.

“D4’s challenge is to shrink the amount of data reviewed,” said John Holland, D4 CEO and founder. “Of every dollar spent in litigation, 70 to 80 percent is spent on document review. Our value proposition is founded on our ability to reduce documents early. We want to store documents in a way that can be searched, analyzed and winnowed down to the most responsive data set, so attorney review is minimized.”

Dell’s end-to-end capabilities are laying the groundwork for future growth. With the Dell Compellent array, D4 is able to control costs for its clients in many ways.

  • Dell Compellent’s thin provisioning enables the D4 IT team to allocate 65 terabytes from an application point-of-view, yet use only 50 terabytes, saving 15 terabytes immediately. Furthermore, when a file is deleted the space is reclaimed, adding up to an additional 25 terabytes a year.
  • D4 increased performance of its systems and added tens of thousands of IOPS without adding solid state drives.
  • Dell Compellent’s perpetual software licensing model allowed D4 to scale from Series 30 to Series 40 controllers without relicensing the software, avoiding costs associated with a forklift upgrade.
  • The new system has had zero downtime, keeping D4 applications highly accessible for customers and employees. Compellent helped D4 achieve 99.999 percent availability.
  • Disaster recovery and chargeback capabilities enable D4 to act as a managed service provider for its clients, as well as keep servers and data from different clients on the SAN and separate them logically and physically for security purposes.
