With our expanded DR as a service offering utilizing VMWare’s Site Recovery Manager, CIOs can replicate their VMware virtualized servers to Logicalis’ Enterprise Cloud more easily and more cost effectively than ever before.
Farmington Hills, MI (PRWEB) December 18, 2012
CIOs reading or watching the news lately are bound to worry about how to protect their companies’ data in the event of a hurricane, earthquake or other disaster like those dominating recent headlines. A growing trend is to shift disaster recovery (DR) solutions to the cloud. But Logicalis, an international IT solutions and managed services provider, warns that any DR solution must fit the client’s individual needs. That’s why, today, Logicalis announced two additional features to its public cloud services portfolio for the Logicalis Enterprise Cloud (LEC), a highly customizable, multi-tiered public cloud infrastructure, to give participating IT pros instant peace of mind in two very specific situations.
Coast-to-Coast DR Protection Plus
Logicalis offers two public cloud data center facilities strategically located in Ohio and Arizona, allowing clients to choose the location that works best for them. These two LEC facilities support Logicalis’ coast-to-coast public cloud solutions which include infrastructure as a service (IaaS), disaster recovery as a service (DRaaS), and hosted Exchange. While data and applications running in the Logicalis Enterprise Cloud already have the advantage of highly skilled technical personnel, multiple levels of security, uninterruptible power systems, redundant HVAC systems, fire suppression and around-the-clock monitoring and management, Logicalis has added two brand-new features to support its DR-in-the-cloud offerings.
“At Logicalis, we’ve noticed a significant increase in the number of businesses using VMware to build virtual servers that reside on their own internal infrastructure. But what happens to that data in the event of an emergency? It needs to be replicated to protect it, and with our expanded DR as a service offering utilizing VMWare’s Site Recovery Manager, CIOs can replicate their VMware virtualized servers to Logicalis’ Enterprise Cloud more easily and more cost effectively than ever before. Additionally, for those clients whose data and applications are already running in the LEC, our second new feature, DR Protection, answers the need for redundancy in the cloud, ” says Kevin Gruneisen, senior director, Cloud and Data Center Solutions for Logicalis.
Logicalis’ New, Expanded Public Cloud Features
1. DRaaS with VMware SRM: IT pros taking advantage of Logicalis’ DRaaS offering through the Logicalis Enterprise Cloud could already redirect their own in-house data – virtualized or not - to failover to either of Logicalis’ two LEC facilities in Ohio or Arizona. Through DRaaS with VMware SRM, Logicalis has added support for VMware’s Site Recovery Manager, giving CIOs a faster and less expensive way to protect the data on VMware-virtualized servers residing on their own in-house infrastructure. This feature can be controlled on a per-server basis, is fully automated, and can handle up to 500 virtual machines. Multiple RPO/RTO combinations are supported so customers can fine-tune their level of protection to their business needs. And the restoration from cloud to client is automated once the data center is back online.
2. DR Protection: The second brand-new feature is Logicalis’ DR Protection. CIOs who have a workload running in one of Logicalis’ two Enterprise Cloud data centers can now obtain an automatic failover option to avoid downtime in the event of a disaster that affects either of the two LEC facilities. If the organization is a LEC East client, it will failover to the Arizona facility; if it’s a LEC West client, it will failover to the Ohio facility.
