Andrew Hawley of Vintage Rock Posters announces finding a vintage 1969 Jimi Hendrix January Jahrhunderthalle Frankfurt concert poster. The concert was held on January 17th, 1969. A serviceman stationed in German in the late 1960s sold the poster to Hawley. According to Hawley, “Hendrix got his start in Europe and came back to the U.S. for the Monterey International Pop Music Festival in the summer of 1967 and changed rock history. When he did his German tour was about 18 months later, Hendrix was would famous. Hendrix played several German cities during the January 69 tour including stops in Berlin, Cologne, Dusseldork and Munster. All these German venues used the famous “medusa” image of Hendrix created by Gunther Kieser. The only difference between these rock posters was venue information on the bottom. Kieser did artwork for Janis Joplin, The Doors, The Who, John Coltrane and Alice Cooper.”
Hawley continues, “The serviceman was glad to receive the $3,000 reward for the poster. The poster is in poor shape so Hawley is interesting in finding a replacement for the Jahrhunderthalle Frankfurt Concert Poster. Vintage Rock Posters wants to find a Kieser Hendrix poster in each of the cites toured in early 1969.”
Hawley is willing to pay a cash reward for the original posters from Jimi Hendrix's 1969 German tour. For more information go to http://www.vintageconcertposterbuyer.com/gallery_hendrix.html. Hawley can be reached by calling 310-346-1965 or email andrew (at) vintageconcertposterbuyer.com.
