"Authors today are in the position of charting the destiny of their own work by communicating with readers and marketing themselves."
Nashville, Tenn. (PRWEB) December 20, 2012
Author, filmmaker, musician and artist Cory Basil has signed a multi-book publishing agreement with Fog Ink, a boutique publishing company based in Nashville. The first book published through the collaboration, a collection of Basil’s early poetry, released internationally December 4.
Skinny Dipping in Daylight offers readers an intimate and unvarnished view of the experiences and fractures of a young artist in the forge of life.
“For me, the greatest element of working with Fog Ink has been the level of creative freedom I have enjoyed at every step through the process,” Basil said. “As an artist, the opportunity Fog Ink afforded me to realize my creative vision for the book – from design and editorial to accompanying art work – has been amazing.”
Fog Ink partners with select authors and leverages targeted publicity, marketing and distribution strategies to get its catalog to a wide and relevant readership. Fog Ink and Basil partnered with Nashville-based Found Feather Communications to provide marketing and public relations strategies for Skinny Dipping in Daylight, as well as Basil’s future titles published through the collaboration.
“The transformation of the traditional publishing industry has settled into a new normal with unprecedented opportunity for smart and talented first-time authors,” said Melissa Wyllie, Found Feather Communications president. “Authors today are in the position of charting the destiny of their own work by communicating with readers and marketing themselves. The partnership between Mr. Basil and Fog Ink is very representative of the smart leveraging of that trend.”
