Gardner, MA (PRWEB) December 20, 2012

Mount Wachusett Community College (MWCC) is collaborating with Nypro Corporation based in Clinton, MA and Scientific Management Techniques (SMT) to deliver a proven skill solution that will help address and solve the manufacturing skills shortage and drive productivity for their industrial client community.

Mount Wachusett Community College, serving 29 cities and towns in North-Central MA, has a rich legacy of delivering effective skill training for employers in their market. “The uniquely effective assessment machines and methodologies developed by SMT will provide MWCC with an additional capability to improve industrial performance on several fronts”, said Jacqueline Belrose, VP of Lifelong Learning and Workforce Development at MWCC. “We will be providing assessment services for manufacturers that will identify and measure the skills of candidates for employment. This ensures that employers hire the right person for the right job. Identifying and measuring skills in the hiring process is the single most effective way to ensure a quality hire in manufacturing. This process lowers the risk and cost of hiring for manufacturers. A secondary benefit of the assessment program is in the training area. The data provided by the assessment program identifies the strength and weaknesses of the industrial workforce both individually and cumulatively. With this data we will deliver highly targeted skills training for the manufacturing workforce. Post training assessments are used to quantify the effectiveness of delivered training and provide data used to determine the ROI of the training investment for each organization.”

Nypro Corporation is currently administering hands-on skill assessments of their incumbent workforce using SMT’s Mechanical, Electrical, and PLC skills assessment machines. With the assessment data Nypro will identify the specific training units required for each employee to improve their skills and productivity. This training program will be delivered through MWCC. Mr. Angelo Sabatalo is the Corporate Director of Organizational Development at Nypro University. “Nypro University has been delivering skills training for our workforce since 1979. We are continuously researching new methods and programs that will keep our training programs current with new technologies,” stated Mr. Sabatalo. “SMT’s assessment program and skills training curriculum will be a valuable addition to our program and an integral part of our skill programs in the future. The assessment data provides valuable information as we determine what specific training units will improve the performance of each member of our production team. This ‘targeted’ training methodology translates into highly effective training and fewer man-hours off the production floor, each employee receives the specific training units required to improve his/her skills and to deliver the requisite productivity improvement for training dollars spent.”

SMT’s manufacturing skills solutions are currently deployed in thirty-one countries and have proven to be highly effective across a wide variety of manufacturing platforms. The skills training curriculum trains the critical “hard” skills required to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot a modern manufacturing facility. “Nypro and MWCC are both recognized leaders in the industrial skills space,” states Stephen Berry, SMT’s President. “The Nypro University- MWCC partnership is an example of how industry and education can collaborate to deliver innovative industrial skills solutions that dramatically improve both employment and industrial productivity. We are privileged to work with both organizations and look forward to a long-term strategic relationship with these dynamic leaders.”
