Nearly 9 out of 10 Americans use the internet, with the percentage even higher for the key customer groups for many businesses. Being online with those customers is a key to success few can afford to overlook. KnowledgeConnection has created a blog that will help even web novices learn what they need to know to start their own blogs or effectively hire others to do so.

The question for most small businesses has turned from “why should we be online” to “what do we do when we’re online”? After encountering many questions about blogging and social media from small business owners – and hearing many different answers to those questions from those in the new media industry, KnowledgeConnection is adding its voice.

“Business people starting blogs and social media campaigns need thoughtful insights for their decision making, not one-liner strategies”, according to Barry Birkett, KnowledgeConnection Co-President. “We hope they’ll find our New Media Blog to be a valued source of information.”

The blog will include insights and tips from KnowledgeConnection’s experience producing their own blogs and managing small business blogs for others. These blogs include their own Senior Care Corner, a leading source of information for family caregivers and From Our Dogs to Yours, and innovative online pet shop they manage for others.

“We learned along the way to consider information and advice from many sources and decide what best fits our style and needs”, says Birkett. “We benefitted from the guidance of others and want to pass along the lessons and insights from our own experiences, even as we continue to learn.”

Topics to be addressed in the New Media Blog include:

  •     Why a business should start a blog;
  •     Considerations when starting a business blog;
  •     Technical aspects of starting and maintaining a blog;
  •     Establishing the “voice” of the business;
  •     Blog promotion, including social media; and,
  •     Sources to consider for more information.

With regular updates planned for their New Media Blog, as KnowledgeConnection suggests for other small business blogs, an easy subscription link has been set up to let visitors stay up to date.
