Crowdfunder (http://www.crowdfunder.com), one of the first online platforms that enables businesses to raise funds through a social network, today announced the launch of its Social Enterprise Hub. The hub will serve as a community on Crowdfunder for social entrepreneurs and investors to connect around the growth and funding of for-profit social enterprises, helping to scale the impact that investors make with their dollars.
Crowdfunder is the only platform that enables companies to showcase their team and business plans in order to build meaningful relationships and rally the financial and social resources they need to grow.
Between charity and holiday gifts, Americans spend $750 billion a year giving to others. Crowdfunder’s Social Enterprise Hub, which will be live throughout the year, gives people a means to contribute to various social enterprises that are actively improving communities.
Crowdfunder conducted a trial run earlier this month, and quickly saw its first two social enterprises achieve their funding goals in record time. In less than 56 hours, This Shirt Helps (http://www.crowdfunder.com/company/profile/thisshirthelps), which allows donors to help a cause of their choice through buying a t-shirt, was fully funded. LSTN (http://www.crowdfunder.com/company/profile/LSTN), who gives the gift of hearing to a child attending deaf school for every pair of reclaimed wood headphones sold, received 100% of their funding in a little over a week.
As part of the Social Enterprise Hub, Crowdfunder will power individual communities for the X PRIZE Foundation and Singularity University, where members can selectively engage with each other to support, fund or invest in companies in the community. Over time, Crowdfunder's Social Enterprise Hub will evolve to show all community activity, including online forums, community events, business networking, crowdfunding campaigns and investment activity.
To further grow and develop the Social Enterprise Hub, Crowdfunder has teamed with prestigious partners, including X PRIZE, Singularity University, TED Fellows, GOOD and many others. Through a highly selective process, these groups determine the social causes that will be featured on the hub.
“Crowdfunding is inherently social,” said Chance Barnett, co-founder and CEO of Crowdfunder. “We are using the power of crowdfunding to accelerate impact investment and contribution, bringing a wave of new investors and capital to social enterprises. Consumers increasingly want their purchases to help support social impact, and we’re giving investors access to some of the most creative and meaningful social enterprises to help them reach their goals. We are thrilled to launch it at this time of year, where individuals and corporations are seeking greater impact through public good.”
A major participant in JOBS Act legislation, Crowdfunder is engaged in government along with SEC and FINRA regulatory activity at the highest levels. The company has also teamed up with the progenitors of the U.S. crowdfunding legislative efforts, Jason Best and Woodie Neiss, who have come on board as advisors to the company.
Crowdfunder is a social network and business crowdfunding platform for entrepreneurs and investors to connect, crowdfund and grow. The company puts growth and fundraising tools in the hands of business owners and investors at all stages in the life cycle of a business. Startups and small businesses on Crowdfunder can raise funds through contribution-based crowdfunding, and soon through debt and equity-based crowdfunding. The company is based in Los Angeles, CA.
