Airendipity, a free, anonymous, and serendipitous sharing network by Little Spindle, LLC, has been released for iPhone today. Airendipity allows a person to write down some text—a secret, thought, confession, anything—fold it into a paper airplane, and send it around the world anonymously. It was built to help people escape from all of the accounts, personas, and personalities of a standard social network. There is no account to create or forms to fill out. Airendipity is free and available in the App Store today: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/airendipity/id583717640?ls=1&mt=8.
Airendipity is also online at http://airendipity.com. The website includes an individual site for every paper airplanes sent through the app; this way popular airplanes can be shared through other social networks like Twitter, Facebook, and Sina Weibo.
Airendipity is truly anonymous and was built from the ground up to preserve anonymity. No personally identiftying information is collected and locations, used to tag airplanes and show activity on a map, are scrambed before being collected by the server. Every experience on Airendipity is entirely a product of chance.
An early demo of Airendipity won multiple awards, including the top prize, at Disruptathon in early 2011. Airendipity is built by Little Spindle, LLC, an iOS consulting shop based in Washington, DC.
