ClickSafety, a leading provider of online safety training, today announced the launch of its intermediate and advanced level Globally Harmonized System (GHS) courses. These courses address the recent changes to OSHA’s hazard communication standard and the movement to establish a globally harmonized hazard communication system.

The GHS is the internationally consistent classification and labeling of chemicals and criteria for how to classify health, physical and environmental hazards. It also specifies the information that should be included on hazardous chemicals labels and safety data sheets (SDS). The two new courses complement ClickSafety’s existing offerings on hazard communication standards and benefit workers and employers in the general, construction and transportation industries.

The online intermediate course, available Friday Dec. 21, is targeted to laborers and supervisors, and covers recent major changes to the Hazard Communication Standard, including updates to hazard classification, labels, and safety data sheets, and the impact of the changes on transportation, the workplace and consumers. The goal is to deliver to participants a better understanding of the major changes to safety identification materials and labels and the new system for hazard classification.

The advanced course, launching Friday Dec. 21, is intended for Safety Directors and Managers responsible for developing safety plans, and provides highly detailed information for safety directors and owners needing the details of GHS for the development of plans for their workers exposed to physical and environmental hazards.

“Our goals with the hazard communication standard portfolio of courses are to enable employers to provide a safer work environment, and to educate and inform those who work around hazardous chemicals and materials to reduce their chance of injury or illness,” said Brian Tonry, ClickSafety executive vice president and general manager. “These two courses are important components to our training, and we’re pleased to offer our clients the benefit of updated material.”
