Concord Technologies, an innovative leader in the Online Fax industry, has released FaxLync. The FaxLync device enables the use of conventional fax machines and MFPs (Multi-Functional Peripheral) to send and receive faxes through the Concord Fax Online service without the need for a traditional analog phone line.
FaxLync enables business owners to continue to use their traditional fax machines in a modern IP environment. This device connects fax machines and MFPs to VoIP networks, putting the fax service online and in the cloud. FaxLync requires no special network setup and automatically connects with Concords' Fax Online platform. It enables users to directly route inbound faxes to one or more email addresses, while retaining the use of the fax machine for sending paper-based documents. Inbound faxes can also be automatically printed if paper-based documents are a requirement.
The FaxLync device is a dual port Analog Telephony Adapter, which has been modified to operate in a store-and-forward mode providing much higher reliability and call completion quality than a traditional ATA device. A regular ATA would attempt to connect a call and transmit the fax using T.38 or G.711 protocols, both of which are highly susceptible to jitter or loss on the network when used for fax and wholly unsuitable for carrying fax calls over a WAN or the public internet.
“FaxLync drastically simplifies the complicated task of having to convert fax equipment from old analog lines to an up-to-date IP service,” said the EVP of Market Development, Ralph Musgrove, “This device can be set up in about 10 minutes by a technical savvy employee. Putting faxes online securely, efficiently and with no loss in transmission or user experience.”
The idea for FaxLync came from the statistic that there are over 100 million fax machines in use worldwide, with the U.S. ranking in at #2 on the list. Fax technology is knowingly a service that has a long history of being antiquated or hard to update, but is still very much in use by many industries that need to transfer and keep records for a long period of time. With the majority of faxes transmitting physical paper, how could one use their existing equipment to put documents electronically into the cloud? Thus, FaxLync was developed.
