It started in the fifth grade -The principal asked if somebody wanted to be Santa Claus.
Lancaster, CA (PRWEB) December 24, 2012
Lance Camper announces that "Santa Claus and his Wife" successfully accompanied the Capitol Christmas Tree to Washington DC this year in a modern day version of a sleigh – their Lance camper. The expedition was made possible due to a generous donation from Lance to help in covering travel expenses.
The 2012 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree was harvested on November 2 and brought to the town of Meeker, Colorado for a community celebration. It then spent several weeks on the road visiting communities and military bases across the country, arriving at the Capitol Building at 4:00 AM on November 25th. Then the tree began its transformation for the tree lighting ceremony which was held on December 4th at 5:00 PM EST. (Video available at: http://c-spanvideo.org/program/TreeLightingC ).
Along the way, Gerald Morris, who has been playing Santa for 56 years, with his wife Twila, accompanied the tree in their Lance Camper from Meeker to Washington DC. Their Lance camper was all “decked out” with special graphics featuring the Capitol Christmas Tree logo.
“It started in the fifth grade,” Gerald Morris said. “The principal asked if somebody wanted to be Santa Claus. I’ve never missed a year putting the suit on ever since.” He added: “I just do it for the enjoyment of putting a sparkle in kids’ eyes. It makes you feel good.”
“We’re glad Morris was able to escort the Capital tree across the country in this special Lance Sleigh,” says Mark Hovanec at Lance Camper. “It truly brings new meaning to our slogan ‘The Most Versatile RVs on the Planet™’.”
