Tough Love Coach Paula Renaye’s Living the Life You Love: The No-Nonsense Guide to Total Transformation, has been named to Kirkus Reviews’ Best of 2012. Renaye’s hard-hitting, yet practical and compassionate, personal development book is one of only four self-help and how-to books to make the Indie top 100 best books list.

“Indie publishing exploded in 2012,” says Karen Schechner, Editor, Kirkus Reviews. “With nearly a quarter of a million titles self-published in the U.S. this year alone, just about everyone can now name at least one self-published superstar. Indie editors Ryan Leahey, David Rapp and I narrowed this worthy assemblage to our top 100 titles.”

“Thrilled and honored aren’t strong enough words to describe how I feel about all this,” Renaye says. “The starred review and critics’ pick were huge. This takes it over the top!”

Renaye’s books are published by Diomo Books, which she founded in 1999 in order to get her first mystery novel, Hot Enough to Kill, into print. She says she never considered going the traditional route for Living the Life You Love. “The publishing world is changing rapidly, and waiting months or even years to find an agent or publisher, and then waiting another year or two for it to make it to the shelves was unacceptable.” She adds, The book is a powerful resource, however, it can’t help people if they can’t get it—doing it myself gave me control over that.”

Renaye’s “do it yourself” attitude is reflected in the name of her publishing company with Diomo being an acronym for Did It On My Own. Her choice to self-publish hasn’t limited her options elsewhere either as she now has multiple foreign rights translation contracts in the works. Her self-publishing success continues on the fiction side as well with her award-winning Jolene Jackson Mystery Series, which she writes as Paula Boyd. On November 28, 2012, the first book in the series, Hot Enough to Kill, hit number one in the entire free Kindle store with almost 28,000 downloads.

“I still don’t know how it happened, but I’m thrilled that it did!” Renaye says. “And then to have Living the Life You Love named to Kirkus Reviews’ Best of 2012 a few weeks later, well, it really is a dream come true!”

Renaye has won four national book awards for her nonfiction and a literary award for her mystery series.

Living the Life You Love: The No-Nonsense Guide to Total Transformation is available at neighborhood and online bookstores.
