I am so proud of this book and am eager to get it in the hands and hearts of little kids who are feeling anxious or confused during this difficult time in their lives.

A children's book, "Divorce - What About ME?" was released on December 15, 2012, by Renaissance Communications.

As divorce continues to affect more and more children, a Chicago-area divorced mother of three, Amy Kite, has written a book for young kids whose parents are getting divorced.

“Divorce: What About Me?” is a comforting, rhyming tale for children ages three to nine and accompanied by colorful graphic illustrations. The book reminds kids of much that will stay the same in their lives, even as they are part of this great change. It also aims to comfort children and help them to sort out the various emotions they may feel when mom and dad decide to separate.

Drawing on her own experiences with her children during her divorce, Kite reiterates throughout the book that mom and dad will always love you, even though they are apart.

Kite chose to focus on writing a book for children about this topic, which is close to her heart since her own painful divorce. Kite says, “I am so proud of this book and am eager to get it in the hands and hearts of little kids who are feeling anxious or confused during this difficult time in their lives.”

The book’s illustrator and publisher, Judy Kaplan, is also passionate about this subject, as she, too, is a divorced mom of two children, now married. Additionally, she is a therapist and has counseled many parents and children about the painful subject of divorce.

Endorsed by RAINBOWS FOR ALL CHILDREN (, founded by Suzy Yehl Marta, the book is highly acclaimed for its sensitivity on the matter of how divorce affects children. RAINBOWS, now worldwide, focuses on “guiding kids through life’s storms” and its efforts have reached more than 2,000,000 people over the years.

“Divorce: What About Me?” is a colorful, coil-bound book that is geared towards young children, ages three to nine. Kite and Kaplan felt that it would be a comfort to parents and kids to have something that addresses these tough issues right in the heart of holiday time for those who are struggling, both parents and children alike.
