“Our goal is to get this information out to other small business owners so they can benefit from what we’ve learned throughout the process.”

As construction crews at Clickstop finish up the company’s new warehouse addition, the space won’t be the only thing to come from the 42,750 square foot expansion. The company’s marketing team also created a video series about the financing of the project to share with other growing small businesses.
The SBA 504 Loan Program series includes 11 videos posted on the blog of the company’s flagship brand, US Cargo Control. The project took about four weeks to create and features the company’s CFO, Todd Kuennen, discussing a range of topics, from benefits and guidelines of the federal loan program to how to apply for a 504 small business loan.
Clickstop CEO Tim Guenther said the goal of the project was to create a source of information and make it available to other small businesses looking to finance an expansion or modernization.
“I had several questions when I first thought about applying for an SBA 504 loan, as I’m sure a lot of small business owners do,” said Guenther. “We are lucky that Todd has a banking background so he’s worked on both sides of the table with this program. His perspective, expertise, and ability to clearly communicate something that can be a complicated process are what make these videos unique.”
The expansion project is the second time the company has utilized the SBA 504 loan program. In 2011 a new headquarters office was built in Urbana’s Blue Creek industrial park.
The video series idea is a new one for the business, which was founded in 2005 when the company’s first website, USCargoControl.com, was created. The e-commerce business regularly creates videos about products the company sells, such as ratchet straps and moving supplies, but the idea to create a series about a federal loan program was devised when Guenther realized the US Cargo Control blog would be an easy way to share the information.
“We’ve had great response from organizations both locally and nationally that have posted the video series on their own websites,” said Guenther.
Deb Duncan from the Iowa Small Business Development Centers says she added the video series to the ISBDC website because of the great resource they provide to the organization’s clients and prospective clients.
“We appreciate this generous help in assisting Iowa’s small business owners and would-be owners to make good decisions,” said Duncan.
Guenther says another positive response came from entrepreneurship.org, which also posted a link to the videos, and he looks forward to continuing to spread the word about the series.
“We really enjoyed creating this series of videos,” said Guenther. “Our goal is to get this information out to other small business owners so they can benefit from what we’ve learned throughout the process.”
