General Motors has confirmed that the hybrid-electric Cadillac ELR will make its official debut as a production car at next month’s Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS). The ELR will be built alongside the Chevy Volt at the company’s Hamtramck assembly plant in Detroit. At first, production volume will likely be low as GM tests the market and gears up specific dealerships to offer the car. ELR is a four-seat, two-door. Sporting a lithium-ion battery pack and a four-cylinder gasoline engine, the ELR’s exact price has not been revealed, nor has its all-electric range. For the complete story, see:

Chevy Volt Hits Electric Mileage Milestone

In the month of December, the total electric distance driven by Chevy Volt owners reached 100 million miles. According to official company data, the car’s average owner uses all-electric mode approximately 65 percent of the time. Because most owners only buy gasoline for long-range driving, the typical Volt owner only has to fill up once every six weeks, on average. The EPA has issued data sheets which point out that Chevy Volt owners save about $1,400 per annum in gasoline expenses. For the complete story, see:
