Doctors are encouraging people to not only take the proper precautionary measure against the immune system attack known as the flu, but also to get the flu shot, especially if you fall into a high risk group.

Bel Marra Health, well known for offering high-quality, specially formulated vitamins and nutritional supplements, is reporting on a new study outlining how this years’ flu season is much worse than last year, and could be considered an epidemic.
As Bel Marra Health reports in its article (http://www.belmarrahealth.com/immune/study-says-flu-is-worse-than-ever/), that new data is suggesting the 2012 flu season could be considered to be an issue of epidemic proportions.
Data reported recently by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says that influenza and flu related symptoms spiked, and were considerably higher throughout the United States this year as opposed to last year. As a matter of fact, one spokesperson for the CDC says that the illness (which has a serious impact on the immune systems of those affected) has seen one of the earliest and most problematic beginnings since the H1N1 influenza epidemic which occurred over the 2003 flu season.
As the Bel Marra Health article reads, there are some areas of the country who have seen a particularly negative impact from the influenza virus this year, though the CDC says that this shouldn’t allow people in other areas to let their guard down, either. Thus far, states who have seen the most ugly reign of terror from the flu are Alabama, Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, and Tennessee. And Missouri and Georgia are not considered to be out of the woods either.
The report said that moderate levels of influenza were reported in those areas, too. Researchers and healthcare practitioners seem to have a pretty common opinion, too. They say it’s only a matter of time before other parts of the United States, and North America as a whole as affected by the flu virus. This is not very comforting news with the upcoming holiday season.
Officials say that while people should remember that influenza has unmistakable symptoms, and people might think they have a good idea of what is in store for them, the flu bug is notoriously unpredictable, and this year, one of the biggest differences with the common immune system affliction, is that this year many “sub-strains” of influenza are circulating, which makes this year, one of the worst in the books.
The CDC Report states that one of the sub-strains that has them very concerned is the H3N2 strain, which is associated with much more severe and uncontrollable symptoms. Healthcare practitioners say that one good bet for the year, especially for those in high risk Officials say the shot for influenza this year is a great one, because it covers about 90 percent of the strains of the flu virus in circulation.
Spokesperson for Bel Marra Health Dr. Victor Marchione says “Doctors are encouraging people to not only take the proper precautionary measure against the immune system attack known as the flu, but also to get the flu shot, especially if you fall into a high risk group The CDC says there is no shortage of the influenza vaccine in sight, and those vulnerable to the influenza virus, or immune system problems should consider it, to hopefully avoid one of the bigger attacks of the flu season to date.”
